A
vibrating wire piezometer is the
most universally used type of piezometer as it is suitable for a broad range of
applications associated with the field of geo-technology. The system consists
of a signal cable and of course a vibrating wire pressure transducer.
The
vibrating wire piezometer is a flexible instrument as it can be placed in a
borehole or suspended in a standpipe or even embedded in fill. A handy readout
or a data logger attached to the piezometer provides the reading. The
piezometer is capable of converting water pressure into a frequency signal for
which a taut steel wire, a diaphragm and an electromagnetic coil are deployed. It
stimulates a change in the tension of the wire because of the change in
pressure on the diaphragm.
The
vibrating wire strain gauge vibrates
at its natural frequency when agitated by the electromagnetic coil. The
proximity of the coil to the wire causes emission of a frequency signal that is
recorded in the data logger or readout device.
If
there is any increase in water pressure, the tension in the wire gets reduced
which causes the diaphragm to curl inward resulting in reduced vibrating wire
signal frequency. The resultant signal is processed by the readout device and
the appropriate calibration factors applied to provide readings in preferred
engineering unit. Make sure you buy these high-tech instruments from a reliable
load cell manufacturer in India for
